The Service Supply Chain Offering is a PRTM Benchmarking Initiative.
Service supply chain management, also referred to as reverse logistics or service logistics, has become a key factor in
achieving competitive advantage for many organizations. The advantages in attaining excellence in post-sales service can have a
significant impact on increased customer satisfaction and retention, more follow-on business, profitable service
contracts, and, ultimately, higher margins. To successfully capitalize on these opportunities, companies need to identify a clear
set of metrics to accurately measure their service performance. These metrics are an important baseline for launching service
initiatives to lower operating costs, improve service levels and ultimately drive greater profitability.
What
is the Service Supply Chain Performance
Scorecard?
The Service Supply Chain Performance Scorecard will help you strike the
right balance between service levels and inventory position, enabling you
to provide the best service at the lowest cost. The Scorecard measures all
aspects of the service supply chain including service parts planning,
distribution and warehousing, reverse logistics, and repair and recovery
operations.
To help you position your company to drive improvements and unlock opportunities, the Scorecard will help you answer
the following key questions relating to operational and financial performance:
- How does our on-time spare-parts delivery performance relate to the industry?
- What are our spare-part fill rates and how do they compare to best-in-class companies in our industry?
- How well are we able to forecast demand for spares compared to others?
- How cost efficient are our spares operations relative to the industry?
- How does our asset utilization compare to others?
The Service Supply Chain Performance Scorecard will provide you with a quick assessment of
your performance through a relatively small investment in your time and resources. The Scorecard draws upon PRTM's supply chain thought leadership and the combined
benchmarking expertise of PRTM and PMG developed over the past 12 years.
PMG, endorsed by The Supply Chain Council as their premiere
benchmarking partner, utilizes a standard set of metrics based on the industry standard
Supply Chain Operations Reference-model (SCOR),
which PRTM was instrumental in developing.
Do I
need a sophisticated database to use the Scorecard?
While a meaningful benchmarking exercise requires significant amounts of
data, it is not necessary or even common for a new PMG participant to have
this information readily available in an easy-to-extract format. A
majority of our participants are still in the process of defining the
supply chain internally as they begin the task of quantifying and
comparing supply chain performance with PMG. Our detailed definitions and
calculations give our participants the necessary direction required for
completing the study regardless of the maturity of their IT systems and
internal databases. Performance measurement in the absence of
sophisticated data tools allows companies to introduce and define metrics
that are not currently measured or understood.
Participants in the Service Supply Chain Performance Scorecard receive:
*All industry segments
may not be available at time of submission.
Online questionnaires offer participants the convenience of loading
data directly into our databases. Descriptions
of best practices across all industry segments will help stimulate
"out-of-the-box" thinking about ways to improve your organization’s
relationship with your customers.
The Performance Measurement Group, LLC
keeps each participant's identity confidential, as specified in our
contract. No data will ever be attributed or attributable to a
participant.
